put 3 in cosa nostra & wagons ho -- Scenario 11
Problem is that no matter how I try to configure them, the three porters I have assigned to the three dumbwaiters won't use them all.
They pile up on one, or at the most 2.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Hmmm, well, that reply wasn't helpful! But i'll bite -- why DON"T i need 2 or more dumbwaiters? As long as the bug exists, the restaurant is going down the tubes with an excess of 50 "famished" complaints and the 2 assigned porters fighting over 1 dumbwaiter. Besides the fight at the lone working dumbwaiter, We've also got the poor "auto assigned" porter bouncing between the stoves with 2 friggin empty dumbwaiters that each porter walks towards then veers away 'cause it's so much more fun to fight over the busy one. <sigh> It's a riot watching porters running into the restaurant carrying food they don't know what to do with, probably saying, "hey man you want this?" LOL - if its a bug then I'd like to know, but if I'm doing something wrong then I would like to know that more than hearing a hit and run response that I don't need 2 dumbwaiters with no further explanation. Bottom line to all this is: I WANT to have 3 dumbwaiters work in one kitchen, but can't make that happen.
Is there anyone that can shine some informative and helpful light on my problem? flapjack

You must be the only one with that bug. My one works just fine in all my sizes of resturants.

I don't know if this will help, but I do this.
I don't have tables upstairs, so food gets brought down thru the dumbwaiters. In a 4x3 restaurant, I often use 3 porters on 3 dumb waiters with 3 serving tables and 1 porter on a dishwashing machine. I line my dumbwaiters up along a wall lengthwise. Then I put one serving table facing each of the trap door to each of the dumb waiters, leaving just enough gap for a porter to stand between the dumb waiter and the serving table. They get a little confuse at first, but once they get going, they just turn toward serving table, pick up food, turn toward dumbwaiter, drop food, and repeat. No time wasted in walking back and forth from serving table and dumb waiter.

Wow, cool idea - I'll have to try that -- my dumbwaiters are in line against the wall too (changed a previous configuration to a single line) Muji - question - I thought I figured it out -- I originally had 2 assigned to dumbwaiter, 1 auto and 1 dishwasher. I noticed that the auto guy went to a separate dumbwaiter, while the two assigned guys fought over a single dumbwaiter ... AHA! I thought - I figured it out I kept 1 assigned to dishwashing, 1 assigned to dumbwaiter and 2 autos .... Now the 2 autos fight over 1 dumbwaiter <sigh> leaving the 3rd one empty. How do YOU get 3 porters to use their own dumbwaiter? What am I missing here? Thanks again for being so helpful, I'll try the new trick with the server trays. Flapjack

I have 3 dumbwaiters and 1 dishwashing machine with 3 porters set on dumbwaiters and 1 set on dish washing.
When I did this, I ran into the problem of my dishes being dirty, so I just decreased the amount of tables. My setup for a 4x3 restaurant is:
4 chefs, 3 captains, 5 servers, 2 receptionists, 4 porters (3 on dumbwaiting, 1 on dishwashing) with 10-2seaters, 3-4seaters, 3 dumbwaiters, 3 serving table, 1 dishwasher, 4 stoves, two kitchen tables with micro and blender.
I'm open from 12pm till 12am and I'm racking in 140k each month. I'm playing the sandbox mode. Hope this helps.

flapjack, make sure you have the serving tables right across from the trap door of the dumbwaiter so that your dedicated porters don't have to walk around; otherwise, they will always try to fight over the same one. Also, give it a hour for them to figure it out. They do get confused for a bit before they settle in every morning.
